Hair Care

I’ve been using the Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner by Calia Natural for almost a year now and its time for me to tell you what I think! 🙂 Firstly, I would like to mention that their customer service is first class. I made an order with them about a year ago and there were some problems with the shipping but they were very patient in helping me solve the issue and I cannot thank them enough for that. (Shoutout to Shira!) Also, stay tuned to the end for a special surprise.

Okay, moving on to the review! 🙂

I was sent the hydrating line which consists of the shampoo, conditioner and leave-in conditioner. I used it for about a month and immediately placed an order for the gallon jugs of shampoo and conditioner! I also included the intensive conditioner in my order.

Calia’s description for the Hydrating Shampoo :

Calia Hydrating Shampoo is an all natural shampoo is made with certified organic botanicals, certified organic enriching oils and the addition of lavender, bergamot and rose geranium essential oils. It is formulated the most natural way we know how. Even its preservative is from excreted tree sap from BC’s forests. Its gentle, floral formula leaves hair feeling clean and alive without feeling stripped of its natural feel. Like any quality organic shampoo, this product will not have the same amount of foaming suds as the mainstream products with synthetic chemicals.

My thoughts:

This shampoo comes out clear, so you know how pure it is! I find it very calming due to the lavender essential oil infused in it. It does smells like flowers and I wish there was a perfume with this scent! haha. It lathers like a dream. Literally. The best part is that it’s all natural with no SLS or any of those nasty chemicals in it. I was really impressed with the lather. Besides, it cleans my hair thoroughly without leaving it dry. Using this shampoo, I could drag out my shampooing intervals for even up to a week! Sounds gross, but it’s really good for your hair if you don’t wash it so often. Sometimes when I do the coconut oil hair treatment, even due to the fact that my hair is very thick, I only need to shampoo twice to get all or most of the coconut oil out! This is a HUGE plus for me as I like to do oil treatments very often. Not to mention, I only need to use the size of 2 50cent coins (SGD) to wash my thick bra strap length hair. The 240ml bottle lasts me about 2-2.5 months if I wash my hair twice a week, and also with the occasional hair treatments. (2 washes for treatment days).

Price : CAD11.99/S$12.50 (240ml) , CAD15.99/S$16.70 (360ml) , CAD115/S$119.90(1 GALLON)

Calia’s description for the Hydrating Conditioner :

Like all Calia products, this naturally produced conditioner is made with certified organic botanicals, certified organic enriching oils and the addition of lavender, bergamot and rose geranium essential oils. Its gentle, floral formula leaves hair manageable and vibrant. Best when used in combination with the Calia Hydrating Shampoo.

My thoughts:

Wow! I also got the gallon jug of this and while my jug for the shampoo is almost gone, I still have about half of this. Its great value for the price and it does its job well! It smells similar to the shampoo, but the conditioner smells MORE calming… I have no idea why but no complains, because I love the scent A LOT. 😀 The conditioner seems creamy but watery at the same time. Its kinda in the middle, I only need a pea size amount for the bottom half of my hair, therefore, it lasts me a looooooong time. The 240ml bottle lasts me 4-5months. Not kidding! I think this works great as a long term conditioner. I don’t find it building up or weighing my hair down at all.

Price : CAD11.99/S$12.50 (240ml) , CAD15.99/S$16.70 (360ml) , CAD115/S$119.90(1 GALLON)

Calia’s description for the Hydrating Leave-in Conditioner :

Like all Calia products, this naturally produced leave-in conditioner is made with certified organic botanicals, certified organic enriching oils and the addition of lavender, bergamot and rose geranium essential oils. Its gentle, floral formula leaves your hair manageable, vibrant and adds a natural fullness. Best when used in combination with the Calia Hydrating Shampoo. Gently shake before each use, then mist onto towel dried, damp hair.

My thoughts:

I spray this on damp hair right out of the shower. When it’s damp, I don’t feel any difference. However, once it’s dry, my hair feels really soft. I hate it when I feel like there’s product on my hair, especially after I just washed it. Thankfully, Calia’s product is hydrating, yet light-weight. Personally, I don’t think that this is a must-have product because your hair would have already been so soft after the hydrating conditioner. However, if you love the scent or want a light leave in, like I do, do give this product a try! It spritz evenly and I use about 2-3sprays each time on the bottom half of my hair. This bottle is going to last me forever! Last but not least, I like that it has an expiry date on it, so I know when I should use it by. (I’m probably gonna use it even past its’ expiry date though, but its always good to know! 😛 )

Price: CAD11.99/S$12.50 (240ml)

Calia’s description for the Intensive Conditioner :

Intensive Conditioner is especially formulated to help repair dry, treated or damaged hair. It is an anti-frizz, natural conditioner, detangling instantly. Apply conditioner and massage into wet hair emphasizing dry ends for up to 2 minutes. Rinse thoroughly. To protect hair from pool chlorine damage, apply before swimming, then rinse out afterwards.

My thoughts:

“Danger: This might prevent split-ends forever!” I know that split-ends cannot be undone, but I’m starting to think that this might be true! 😛 I do not detect any scent in this intensive conditioner. The texture is slightly thicker than the hydrating conditioner. It is more moisturising as well. I use this once a week, when I don’t have enough time to do the oil treatment. This gives my hair more volume, and also makes it feel really soft to the touch, instantly. I ALWAYS have good hair days when I use this. I also only use a pea size amount for this. This product is definitely good to have.

Price : CAD10.99/S$11.50 (120ml) , CAD17.99/S$18.80 (240ml)

In Conclusion, their hydrating line is best for normal/oily hair types.  Calia is one of the BEST natural company that I’ve ever came across, in terms of customer service and product quality. Unfortunately, shipping to Singapore is very expensive, at CAD90 for surface shipping which will take 4-10weeks to arrive. (Mine took about 8 weeks :() Hopefully, some time in the future they will be able to offer shipping at a lower cost, fingers crossed. However, that is only a small price to pay and I will continue to purchase their products for as long as they exist.

PS: I will be ordering gallon jugs of their purifying line soon and will update you with a review for the line! Super-hyped!

I will be giving away a full-sized Hydrating Leave-in Conditioner to one of you.

Howdy! I’ve recently herd of Moogoo through my fellow Aussie mates. I did a lot of research on the company and realize that their products can be bought locally in stores! There are a few stores that carry Moogoo products, I will get into that at the end of the post. 😉

I was sent a few of their products, together with some from their sister makeup company – Dusty Girls. After trying out a few of their products, I literally went on their website and made a huge order!! Just wanna say that half of the products from the Moogoo/Dusty Girls trilogy posts were purchased by me and reviews are based on how I truly feel about the product.

Let’s get started!! I am going to review the Moogoo Haircare products today.

HOLY COW (no pun intended)

I am not exaggerating or anything but I think I have found my holy grail shampoo and conditioner! Let me start off by saying that I will continue to repurchase this duo until I have found something better, which will not be anytime soon. 😜
This was first made for a family member who had a scalp so itchy they went to bed with olive oil and cling wrap around their head. It took 6 months of trialling until we banished the cling wrap to the kitchen for good.

Our Scalp Friendly Milk Shampoo has now become one of our best selling products. Read our ‘We got mail” page to see how much it has helped people with scalp problems. We use natural ingredients combined with ingredients to control the micro-flora of the scalp that can cause scalp problems for many adults and children. Fragrance Free. pH BAlanced. Natural Cleansers.

One of the many things I love about their company is that they are extremely transparent with their ingredients. All their ingredients are natural and very beneficial for your hair. They do not use SLS, however I find that the milk shampoo lathers like a dream! All you need is a small amount and it lathers and cleans your hair really thoroughly. It is because of the glucose and coconut derived cleansers! They also added a canola derived detangler and a phthalate free fragrant. I find this shampoo rather clarifying. I wouldn’t say VERY, but it does a pretty good job in cleansing and preventing build ups!

They not only do not add SLS to their shampoo, they also do not add silicones into their conditioner! “Cream Conditioner” – initially when I heard of the name, I was expecting it to be a thick cream that might weigh my hair down. Not gonna lie, I had doubts.  Just a little! But hey, I was wrong. It proved my wrong! It was thin in consistency. It wasn’t thick at all. Not only that, it conditions really well, just like my previous conventional conditioners that had nasties in them. Except that this is all natural, no nasties! 🌿

So what’s in the conditioner that makes it conditions so well? Jojoba oil, olive oil, allantoin, a canola based detangler again and as well as hydrolized milk protein!

Moogoo and dusty girls add milk protein to most of their products. Just because they have pictures of cute cows on their products, doesn’t mean they include milk in their products! Don’t be confused between milk and milk protein. Milk cannot be kept and it would be just wrong to include them in any of your beauty products as they will turn bad. Really bad. 😕 but of course, they are good to take in orally!

Both the cream conditioner and milk shampoo smells like cream. Which I love! I love sweet smelling cream in my products.

The last product from their Haircare line I would be reviewing would be their Protein Shot Leave in Conditioner!  Moogoo is constantly experimenting and creating new products to add to their line. One of the latest edition added is this product! I think it was only launched this year, very recent. I tried to find reviews of this product online but there wasn’t a lot of them. Hence, here I am! Enlightening more people about this amazing product existence. 😂 I add just a small amount of it and work it through my hair when it’s damp after showering. It is a relatively thick cream, therefore you only need a tiny bit. Even if you have thick hair like mine. I would not recommend applying this leave in conditioner to your hair when it’s dry as it has quite a thick consistency. Nevertheless, it works amazingly fine on damp hair. Once my hair dries, it feels very smooth and detangled. (I did not use a comb or brush when it’s wet) This product has a sweet berry scent,  it’s not a very strong and it definitely does not linger.

A few of the many great ingredients in this product are milk protein, olive oil, jojoba oil, and vitamin E! No silicones spotted as well 🙂

From their main website, the shampoo and conditioner costs AUD17.5 and they both come in a huge 500ml pump bottle which will most probably last me 6 months. (I wash my hair 2-3 times a week)

The protein shot leave in conditioner costs AUD14.5 and it comes in a 100ml air tight pump bottle.

Oh oh!! Because I’m from Singapore, I do not have to pay taxes and they will be deducted at the check out page. 🙂

Thank you ❤️ stay tune for my next 2 posts – Reviews of Moogoo Skin and body care  followed by Dusty Girl makeup!! 🌸

Skinny Coconut Oil is the only 100% RAW & ALKALINE coconut oil available on the market. It is made with our internationally exclusive, patent-pending Nutralock System™ that crafts our oil without using any heat at all (yes that’s right ZERO heat!)

Coconut oil has many many benefits which I will get more into in my upcoming “Beauty Uses for Coconut Oil” post. It is very important that you get coconut oil that is unrefined, cold pressed and preferably 100% raw. This is because these categories of coconut oil does not only taste better, but also has the most beneficial vitamins for your body.
For the past 3 weeks, I have been testing out Skinny Coconut Oil as a leave in hair treatment, facial moisturizer and last but not least, oil pulling. It does not have a very strong scent to it as it is not heated, but it does smell fresh and raw!

I was sent the 4 oz jar to review and as with most products I have reviewed so far, a little goes a long way.

It is not as thick as castor oil, but it is most definitely moisturizing enough for both the hair and the body.

My hair feels very moisturized after the treatment! I can also use this as a leave in and it will absorb right into my hair and not leave any greasy residue. Of course, you can’t over apply it.
It is perfect as a facial moisturizer as it does not have the very strong coconut smell. It will get a little oily first upon application, however, as you let it sit for awhile, it will sink right into your skin.
Oil pulling – this is the best way to detoxify and it is best done in the morning before breakfast. If oil pulling is done regularly, it will not only fill your body with more positivity, it will also make you look better. Most importantly, no matter how good the grade of the coconut oil is, DO NOT SWALLOW THE OIL AS YOU ARE OIL PULLING! I know that it’s really tempting but it is worth the wait, trust me.

Skinny and Co Original coconut oil comes in 3 sizes – 4oz, 8.5oz and 16.9oz. Prices are really affordable and it ranges from USD10-USD$30.
They also have the Peppermint Coconut oil which is for people who uses it for oil pulling only.

I would love to purchase it in the biggest jar so do have sufficient to test it out for other uses like direct intake, cooking and what not! There are many uses of coconut oil.

Hi! If you read my review on the treatment I did at Audreys’ Salon, you should already know where this post is headed to.

I am going to do a review on some products from YAROK Haircare, sent to me by the founder of Yarok, Mordechai Alvow and Audrey from Audreys’ Salon of course!

Raise your hairs’ volume and lower your carbon footprint with this luxurious, naturally foaming shampoo. Treat your senses, your hair and your scalp to this herbal aromatic blend of organic and all natural herbs, flowers, vitamins, minerals and essential oils that visibly plump normal to fine hair. My thoughts: I think that this shampoo is very clarifying, really helps to get all the unwanted build up on my scalp! Because it’s very clarifying, I use it only once or twice a week, which is good enough! This is priced at $58 for the 8.5oz bottle. My hair is long and quite thick so I usually get very less volume near the crown. This shampoo gives me the volume I need. I only need a little bit for it to lather up, which is amazing as it doesn’t contain the chemical – Sodium Laureth Sulfate. Hence, this bottle is going to last me a long time. It also has a herbal scent, due to all the flowers and herbs infused in the shampoo.

Condition your hair and help improve the condition of the planet using many of the same sustainable, nourishing, plumping ingredients as Yarok Feed Your Volume Shampoo. This conditioner will seal in moisture and promote volume and manageability, with the three superior moisturizers: Jojoba Seed Oil, Macadamia Nut Oil, and Aloe Vera. Its warm and earthy aroma from wildcrafted essential oils of Sweet Orange, Rosemary and Vetiver is slightly less fruity than the shampoo. Our conditioner, of course, is free from chemicals, alcohol, sulfates, parabens or animal testing. My thoughts: Silicons, silicons, silicons. I always find that in other conditioners! Yes they do make your hair look “soft” but when you stop using them, your hair will look more dead then they have ever been! This conditioner however, conditions like a dream and does not contain all of those harsh chemicals unlike the other brands. This is priced at $58 as well for the 8.5oz bottle. I use this in conjunction with the Feed your volume shampoo. It has a sweet scent.

Prevent damage from heat styling while helping prevent global warming. Protect your ends with this nutritious, leave-in conditioner spray, packed with vitamins, minerals and essential oils that nourish hair prior to blow drying or heat styling. And join Yarok in helping protect one of the world’s greatest natural resources, the Amazon Rainforest. My thoughts: This is one of my favourite products from the line. I am currently more focused on making my hair as healthy as possible. Hence, this product is a must! This doesn’t have a very strong scent as compared to the other products from the brand. I spray this in when my  hair is damp and when it is 50% dried, I could already feel that it’s getting significantly smoother and softer. I think that my hair will become very healthy with continuous usage of this product!

With Vitamin-Infused Aloe Vera Gel, Organic Oils of Jojoba and Grapeseed. Essential Oils of Orange and Ylang Ylang
Everyone wants what they don’t have. And now you can have the curls they all want. By locking in moisture, healing split ends, putting an end to frizz and defining each and every sumptuous ringlet. Just nourish and twirl damp curls with this moisturizing, healing styling crème made of Organic Oils of Jojoba, Grapeseed and Meadowfoam, Vitamin-Infused Aloe Vera and Argan Oil and Essential Oils of Sweet Orange, Bitter Orange and Ylang Ylang. And if you think your curls feel good afterward, you’ll feel just as good knowing

This is a styling whip and curl defining cream. However, this is way more than that! I like how this does not have any sticky feel to it but yet still defines my dying curls! You can use this as a hair mask too! Just apply it onto damp/dry hair, whichever works best for you, and leave it on for about 30 minutes and you’re good to go! It comes in a 8.5oz and retails for $62. For such a huge tub, it’s actually pretty worth the price. I have been looking for a holy grail hair cream that contains no chemicals and repairs my hair, and I think I might have found the one.

I was also sent 3 fantastic serums to review. – FEED YOUR YOUTH, FEED YOUR SHINE AND FEED YOUR SUNSHINE.

Feed your Youth

With Pure Yarrow and Avocado Oils Now you can keep your hair young and beautiful and help the natural environment survive for generations to come.
This powerful blend of pure essential oils packed with vitamins, minerals and anti-oxidants are responsibly harvested and provide the ultimate longevity-promoting treatment for all hair types. A key ingredient is Yarrow Oil, which is prescribed for dry skin conditions while Avocado Oil is among the most therapeutic and vitamin-rich oils.

This product retails for $50 (1oz). It is an anti-ageing treatment for the hair and scalp. It’s really hard to find a scalp treatment that does not weigh down the hair after washing it out. This, unlike any other, does not weigh down the hair. Instead, it leaves my scalp feeling really clean and yet healthy! With continuous usage, I am most definitely going to see a difference in the amount of hair I’m losing everyday.

Now you can make your hair shine to the max with as minimal impact on the natural environment as possible using just a few drops of this powerful blend of organic and all natural vitamins, minerals, anti-oxidants and essential oils.
Yarok Feed Your Shine drops absorb quickly into the scalp and hair, deeply penetrating, conditioning and bringing out hair’s inner sheen, while contrasting highlights and protecting your hair from the damaging effects of hot styling tools.
I use only about 2 full pumps of this product and it can already cover my entire hair! A little goes a very long way with this. The smell does not linger, however it is very strong the moment you pump it out. There’s a pretty strong herbal smell, as with almost all Yaroks’ products. Which I personally, do not mind. I apply this after showering, when my hair is still damp. After it dries, I can tell that it got significantly shinier! This actually gives not only the illusion of healthy hair, but also makes my hair feel incredibly soft. (Ofcourse! There are natural vitamins and essential oils in this.) This 1oz bottle retails for $46.
With Organic Aloe Vera and Black Currant Seed Oil Now all hair and scalp types can be protected from harsh pool chemicals and the damaging effects of the sun with this powerful and protective blend of organic and all natural vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and responsibly sourced oils. And after harsh exposure to the sun, your hair and scalp can be soothed and re-hydrated.
Feed Your Sunshine is also specially formulated to replenish and combat over processed hair, free radical assaults, product overload, every day stress and may even ease dry scalp conditions like dandruff.
Last but not least, a leave in hair serum! This is supposed to be a before/after swimming treatment. I don’t swim as often as last time anymore, but this is still beneficial to me as it’s summer all year round over here in Singapore. You can use this or feed your youth as a pre colouring treatment! So the harsh dyes will not damage your hair as much. Just like your face, your hair also needs sun protection and we tend to neglect that protection. The harmful rays of the sun will dry out your hair and damage it. I have never came across a sun protection product for the hair until I tried Feed Your Sunshine! I am definitely intrigued by this product and I am confident that you will love it as much as I do. This bottle retails for $50(1oz).
I have finally come to the end of the review. I am currently obsessed with the brand and will most probably repurchase it when I run out. Hopefully, I will be able to review the Feed Your Moisture line and Feed Your Do! Not only do their products work, they also donate 3% of its annual profits to The Pachamama Alliance, a non-proift that protects over 10 million acres of rainforests in the Amazon. All their bottles are also recycled and biodegradable. How amazing is that?!

As some of you may know, Salon that uses organic and natural products are pretty hard to come by. Especially here in Singapore!
Today, I am going to be reviewing the Yarok treatment that the lovely Audrey did on me, featuring a scalp scrub!(what?)
Yes, Initially I didn’t know what a scalp scrub was or does. She then explained to me that it was similar to a facial scrub, but it’s for the scalp! It is to help exfoliate it and remove all the gunk that even shampoos can’t! Exactly what I needed, it’s been so long since I even used a clarifying shampoo.

YAROK – I didn’t know about this brand until Audrey happened! I fell in love with their brand upon knowing that they are all natural and even their packagings are biodegradable! They use herbs/plants and essential oils in all their products.

Firstly, Audrey examined my hair to determine the type of treatment I needed. She then concluded that I had an oily scalp, which is no surprise considering the nations weather!
She then proceeded to shampoo my hair with the..

YAROK FEED YOUR VOLUME SHAMPOO thoroughly, making sure my hair gets really cleansed before the treatment. The ingredient list didn’t have any chemicals at all and I’m really surprise that it still lather up like a dream! (Even without Sodium Laureth Sulfate)

Next, she rinsed my hair and applied the scalp scrub. Once she has applied it layer by layer, it became a shampoo-like consistency! This doesn’t have to be left on, it just needs to really be massaged all over to get ur scalp thoroughly cleansed!

Rinsing that off as well, she applied the

This is a multi purpose cream – you can use it as a cream to define your curls, or as a mask! In this case, she applied it as a mask. She only used 2 fingers to scoop out the product and it’s already enough to cover a chunk of my hair(I have pretty thick hair). After coating my hair with all that goodness, she placed a steamer around me so it will help my hair absorb the product better! Audrey then went through with me the range of products from Yarok and also explained more about it to me, which I will go more into in one of the next posts! 20 minutes later, she rinsed my hair and the treatment is almost done!
Time for some leave in of course 🙂

She sprayed the YAROK FEED YOUR ENDS leave in conditioner

And the FEED YOUR SHINE serum all over my hair.
I could already feel my hair getting softer during the mid rinse!
She blew dry it and voila! Beautiful, silky and healthy hair I have never seen in quite awhile.
Overall, I’m really please with Audreys service and the treatment was one of the best I’ve ever tried. & knowing that the products are all organic and natural, this treatment definitely made it to the top of the list!
Yarok, a brand that I’ve never encountered until I visited their website.
You can get all the amazing products from Yarok that Audrey had used on me in this treatment from :
